Specular Maps

I'm also using pixplant to create specular maps, because in shadermap 4, the specular map created is totally blown out, almost completely white regardless of texture used.

Look at a photo from hdrihaven, like this one: https://texturehaven.com/tex/?c=rocks&t=rock_06. Download the specular map from there. How can I create that with shadermap 4? Doesn't seem to be a way to do that.

Is shadermap 4 poor at creating specular maps or should I expect to have to use photoshop to touch them up after creating them in shadermap?

Can someone offer some help?

    Hi jbn,

    The current specular map generation method is having... issues. A new Specular Map plugin will be released with SM 4.1.5 this January.

  • Thought you should know that version 4.2 is available and includes new Diffuse to Specular maps.
