Space Craft Paint job

Hola all,

First of all want to say thank you for putting out a great tool!

Wondering if I could get some pointers or perhaps a link to a website that outlines how to put paint on large space craft with several hundred different surfaces. 

My experience is limited to attaching Diffuse, Specular, Gloss/Roughness, Opacity and Tangent Space Normal maps to character rigs (.FBX) in Maya and so I am not even sure which of these are relevant to space craft which is to be lighted up with Arnold lights.

I've done few of the tutorials (colour map and etc) within the 4.0.8 user manual and done some maps out of photos but not sure should I locally apply these kinds of maps then.
