Normal Editor - Unlocking -> All Editing Lost

Hi again,

Why are ALL edits to a normal map node purged when I unlock the map? I mean if I created a extra layer in the normal editor to e.g. mask out some unwanted details of the underlying normal map - then why can´t this extra layer be kept as it is even when I change the map that´s the source for the normal map node?

Would be awesome...

  • Hi Rogurt,

    It may be possible to unhook the Normal Editor Layers from the Locked Map system in a future release.

    The main change would be to require all layer data to be kept in memory for every map that has layers while in the map interface.

    It might be possible to add a 3 state system (Locked, Unlocked, and Unlocked + Layers) so that only maps with the 3rd state retain layer data in system memory.
