It is not on by default though it may be in the 2.1 release.

Displacement and Normals generated from the 16 bit/channel source maps are far superior and can later be saved as 8 bit maps if desired.

I wonder if you have FORCE 16-BIT MAPS enabled in the Map Options. If so then once loaded the system will convert any source map to an internal 16 bit format.

Yes it is okay to skip this step of the installation if you have previously installed the runtimes.
  • You may now log in and download the installer. The button issue when loading saved projects should be resolved.

    Thanks again Kelly!

Not currently. This could easily be added as an alternative to setting map formats individually in the Options and Settings and is already on my list of features to add to SM2. in Can User Define Global Defaults? Comment by RSI May 2013

This is a good question. There answer is I don't know. It isn't currently in the design document for SM2.

One place OpenCL could be used with immediate results is in the OPTX image processing library. I will do more res…

Yep. I see that. There was a missing function call (update_save_all_and_batch_buttons()) at the end of the load project function. Whoops!

I'm recompiling at the moment. Will rebuild the installers and update the website…

Ah, for some reason SM2 is not loading the map export settings from the project file. Will look into this ASAP.

    Glad that worked.

No need to download the recompiled 2.0.7.

Thanks again for bringing this to my attention.
  • I have attached a zip file with new OPTX DLL files. This should fix the locked maps crash. Please follow the instructions located in the "Read Me.txt" file.

If this solves your loading problem then I will recompile the 2.0.7 installer an…

    Found and fixed the bug.

It is happening when a 16 bit map is locked. When the project is saved, that map is saved inside the project as a binary file. The loader of that binary file was reading information out of order…
  • In the first three it seems the source file is not embedded into the .smap file. I can probably track that issue down and fix it.

The second .smap project you submitted does not seem to be a valid archive at all. That will be more diffic…

    Hi Kelly,

I had a look at the OBJ files and it confirmed my suspicion. The mesh files are missing NORMALS and TEXTURE COORDINATES. Both are required when importing to ShaderMap.

    Thanks for your kind words.

Additionally, all current customers will be notified via email when any updates to SM2 are released.

    Hi Kelly,

It is just me doing all the programming. There is no date I am comfortable announcing 2.1 yet. I had hoped to release it during the first half of the year and that may still happen.

    The BETA will b…

Blender files are not supported. Currently only FBX and OBJ are supported form mesh import.

I will add this to "the list" and research the file format at some point. If Blender provides a decent API for loading .blend f…

    Hi Kelly,

Yes it is possible to batch process maps for any individual source map.

To start batch processing, select a source map that will be replaced with each batch source image. When a source map is selec…

Glossiness controls the width of the specular highlight, where a Specular Map controls the intensity. You can use any grayscale image to create one. The brighter the pixel the more gloss.

    Hi Richard,

I think what you are looking for is a displacement map (also known as height map).

Thanks for your help in trying to track down this bug. Unfortunately, there is not much more I can do to assist you in this matter. ShaderMap 2 has been tested working on many systems running Windows 7 x64 using nVidia cards as old…

At this point I would suggest you do the following:

  • It looks like the loader we are using in version 2 does not support 32 bit TIF images. We are planning to add support (up to 16 bit) for OpenEXR later in ShaderMap version 2 though full support of 32 bit floating point / integers will not become ava…
