Thanks, I've been getting a lot of that about the Visualizer pop-out. :) It'll be brighter in the next update.

What do you mean be 'preview your work'? Do you mean in the Material Visualizer or using some other system?

You can pop the Material Visualizer out into a different window so you can preview your painting results in rea…

This sounds like your hardware isn't compatible with ShaderMap 2. I don't recommend you run ShaderMap on your laptop. It might be causing it to overheat. Please uninstall the demos from your system.

The plugin is just for testing so was not announced but you can download it here:

Did the updated OBJ plugin solve your problem?
  • This is all great feedback! I think you'll see most of it implemented.

Thanks for the offer of OBJ samples but I do have access to a Max 2012 install, so I'll be using that next week to look for variations in the OBJ file format.

    Great feedback. Thanks.

Will try to get some OBJs from 2012/2013 and see what the problem is.

    -- EDIT

I was just able to replicate the bug when painting with a normal map brush. That's good news.…
  • Great news! Thanks for testing. It will be released for everyone in the next service update.

  • I will be responding to your question via email.
  • I have attached the BETA OBJ import plugin for SM2 as a zip file. Download it and following the included instructions for installing either x86 or x64.

This version supports quads. Though it has only been tested with 3ds Max export.

Thank you for reporting this. It will be fixed in an upcoming service release. I expect to be doing regular service updates on a monthly schedule.

At the moment each map must be saved individually to give them a name (set up for export), once this is done the Save All button will be activated. Pressing it will save all maps that have been setup for export.

Thanks for your feedback. We are still planning on adding this feature. Since it was promised long ago, I'll move it to the top of my list.

Glad it's working now. It makes sense, the 16 bit images can take up a lot of room without a decent amount of RAM and a 64 bit system.

    Cheers,

It looks as though your system isn't allowing for the image class to allocate enough memory for the image. That error specifically means Windows wouldn't give ShaderMap enough memory for the image.

It depends on memory size. It is compiled to use virtual memory if the user runs out of RAM but that would slow things down considerably.

I can. Path management is important to me too. Adding it to the list

    Hi Adam,

The normal -> displacement map works best on normals generated from height / displacement. In essence it is a way to recover displacement from normals generated from displacement.

    If normals are …

We do have plans to add lines, curves, paths, etc. in the normal editor. Thanks for your interest.

You can delete the options.xml file located at:

    C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\SM2\options.xml

That will reset everything to default.

No it is not necessary to uninstall SM1 before installing SM2
