Changing Specific Sections of a Map

Hi,

I'm a new user, and wondered whether it's possible to intensify a particular isolated part of a normal map. I have a texture that needs one feature to be more prominent than the rest. I know it's possible to paint on the normal map but this isn't precise enough for me ... I don't have a steady hand! Is there any way to isolate this part and just increase the intensity?

Thanks a lot.

Not in current release version 2.0.X. There will be a way to do this in version 2.1. The steps will be:

    1. Bring the normal map into the N-Editor
    2. Use the Select Tool to select the portion of the map you want to isolate
    3. Copy the selected area and paste it as a new layer
    4. Open the layer's profile and under the Normals section simply adjust the intensity

This feature is not currently available in the 2.1 BETA release. It will be available in BETA version 2.1.0 C
  • Excellent -- thanks a lot.
