Frequently Asked Questions FAQ

Below is a list of answers to common questions asked by users of ShaderMap 1 (also known as ShaderMap Pro).

Q. Is it possible to change the naming and/or the format (jpg, png)when we generate maps?

To change the output format click on a map thumbnail on the left of the app, below you then click on the 'File Type' button to set the format.

There is currently no way to change the name of the output image.

Q. ShaderMap is not working properly, I can't click buttons, or certain parts of the interface are not responsive. What can I do?

Before installing you should uninstall all versions of ShaderMap Demo and CL. Then delete the folder at C:\ShaderMap on your hard drive.

The two runtimes that need to be installed are:

Visual C++ 2005 Runtime SP1
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5638

Visual C++ 2008 Runtime SP1
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5582

You should try uninstalling both before reinstalling from the links.

Q. How does the ShaderMap Pro site license work? Can I install it on multiple computers?

The ShaderMap 1 Site license allows you to install ShaderMap on as many machines that are located a single address / location, (ie Building, Property, Home, Work). It is a flexible license intended to get ShaderMap 1 used by as many people as possible. It is still available for users of ShaderMap 1 which can be purchased here: http://shadermap.com/buynow/?v=1

Q. I lost my copy of the ShaderMap 1 installer, how can I get another copy?

You can log in to re-download ShaderMap here: http://shadermap.com/downloads/

If you do not remember your password you can get a new one here: http://shadermap.com/downloads/_reset.php

Q. I have a problem importing a custom model to Shader Map Pro. The imported models look like a triangulated mess. What am I doing wrong?

When you export your model (from 3DS Max or other) it must be in OBJ and all parts of the model must be TRIANGULATED. ShaderMap 1 does not support other primitives in OBJ geometry.
